No Place Like Home:
Houses of Metro Vancouver

No Place Like Home: Houses of Metro Vancouver is an illustration book about residential architecture of Metro Vancouver that I self-published in May, 2022. The book includes the history and architectural development facts about the following cities: Burnaby, Coquitlam & Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, North Vancouver & West Vancouver.

A limited number of 100 copies was sold out within 3 days after the release.

As a 2D animator, Kerel Alaas is used to seeing things in a different way, and that's what sparked the idea for a new project highlighting various neighbourhoods across Metro Vancouver.

Alaas wanted to be an architect growing up in Yakutsk, a city in Russia's Republic of Sakha, but decided it would be a difficult path. Instead, she decided to follow her artistic nature, attending Emily Carr University after her family moved to Metro Vancouver.
